Recently, Liu Zhaoyang, Production Supervisor of the Binding Workshop at Liaoning Xinhua Printing Co., Ltd. He was honored with the title of “Top Ten Craftsmen” by Printing Technology magazine.
With over ten years of experience in printing, Liu is not only a highly skilled perfect binding line operator but also a two-time Second Prize winner in the National Printing Industry Vocational Skills Competition and a delegate to the 13th Congress of the Communist Party of China in Liaoning Province, establishing himself as an industry benchmark.
The equipment he currently operates—the JMD Cambridge-12000 Perfect Binding Line—has repeatedly achieved excellent results under his management, successfully completing every “textbooks delivered before class” assignment on time and with high quality, further proving the efficiency and stability of JMD equipment.
Ten Years of Refinement: From Apprentice to Skilled Technician
Born in 1991, Liu Zhaoyang began as an apprentice in the binding workshop of Liaoning Xinhua Printing. Fueled by his fascination with printing technology and persistent study, he rapidly grew into an outstanding lead operator of the perfect binding line.
In 2020 and 2023, he emerged from nearly one hundred contestants nationwide at the 7th and 8th National Printing Industry Vocational Skills Competition Finals held at JMD headquarters in Shenzhen, winning Second Prize in both events. These competitions, hosted by the National Press and Publication Administration and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, and co-organized by JMD, are national-level events. Winning twice demonstrates his ongoing dedication to mastering binding techniques.
His progress did not stop there. Last year, he also received Second Prize in the 11th “JMD Cup” Competition covering nine northern provinces and regions. These honors reflect his evolution from a novice to an expert and testify to his continuous refinement of technical skills.


Tackling Challenges: New Breakthroughs on the JMD Platform
Liaoning Xinhua Printing operates three JMD Cambridge-12000 perfect binding lines. As the lead operator for the flagship machine, Liu fully demonstrates his pursuit of perfection.
Through innovative work methods and precise machine adjustments, he ensures “machines keep running even during lunch breaks”, leading his team to successfully complete the increasingly compressed production cycles of the “textbooks delivered before class” task. This showcases both his superb operational skills and the efficiency and stability of JMD equipment.
In Liu’s own words, you will never hear “good enough” or “almost.” He often says: “Our work must be pursued to perfection. Many times, ‘almost’ can be a thousand miles off; ‘almost’ may leave hidden risks.”

In addition to performing his own work, Liu never forgets to mentor and assist others. He generously shares years of accumulated operational techniques and machine-adjustment experience, cultivating multiple technical backbones and injecting fresh talent into the binding industry.
JMD also values skill inheritance. By continuously hosting and co-hosting skills competitions, the “JMD Cup,” and customer training programs, it provides platforms for more young professionals like Liu Zhaoyang to showcase their talents.
