Products

What types of equipment does JMD manufacture?

JMD manufactures three main categories of print finishing equipment:

  • Perfect Binding Solutions: Including the Cambridge-12000 high-speed line (up to 10,000 books/hour), Newbridge(up to 13,000 books/hour), Challenger-5000, Superbinder series, and the Sunbridge-15000.
  • Saddle Stitching Solutions: Including the Rose-12000 and Pearls-8000 saddle stitching systems for magazines, brochures, and catalogs.
  • Digital Finishing Solutions: Including the Digital Robot 2000A/2000C perfect binders, DT-30 three-knife trimmer, Digital FoldLine 180 roll-to-book system, and Cut & Stack solutions — all designed for short-run digital printing.

What is the difference between EVA and PUR binding?

EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) is a hot-melt adhesive that offers lower cost, faster drying time, and easier operation. It is ideal for standard paperback books, catalogs, and manuals.

PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) provides superior binding strength, excellent flexibility, and works well with coated and UV-treated paper stocks. It is preferred for high-quality softcover books and lay-flat binding.

Many JMD binders, including the Digital Robot series, offer interchangeable EVA and PUR systems, giving you the flexibility to handle any job requirement.

Which digital presses are compatible with JMD finishing equipment?

JMD digital finishing solutions are designed for seamless integration with leading digital press brands, including HP Indigo, Canon imagePRESS, Kodak, and Ricoh Pro series. Our equipment supports both inline and near-line configurations for end-to-end automated production.

What is the fastest perfect binder JMD offers?

The JMD Sunbridge-15000 is our fastest perfect binding production line, capable of producing up to 15,000 books per hour. For high-speed commercial production, the Cambridge-12000 delivers up to 10,000 books per hour with integrated gathering and three-knife trimming.

Can JMD equipment handle short-run digital printing?

Yes. Our Digital Robot 2000A and 2000C are specifically engineered for short-run and on-demand production. They feature automatic format changeover (under 60 seconds), integrated book thickness measurement, and are profitable even for single-copy runs. The Digital FoldLine 180 provides a complete roll-to-finished-book solution for web-fed digital presses.
